What does Mary do that we might learn from? How does she participate in Jesus's miracle of abundance? "They have no wine - Do whatever he tells you!" We live in the tension between these two lines. Let's live there well. 

The wedding in Cana story is not a story about scarcity, it's a story about plenty, about God's extravagant and limitless generosity. Mary's line is a line I repeat every day. "They have no ........! You fill in the blank.

Sometimes we forget the beauty of God in art and music. The prophet Elisha didn't. When rebellion was all around, he knew just where to look. 

The church is not supposed to be separate from the state. What ground the church has given up, evil has moved it.

No matter what the sign on the door says, there is only one church, One body of the Living Christ! We are made to reflect the image of God into our world.

It's the look of love that melts the heart. It's the gracious vision of Jesus and it is the same vision we are called to practice in a world that too often leads to judgment and condemnation. Is there anything that feels lonelier than the experience of being unseen and dismissed?

Seeing is always selective. We have choices when it comes to what we see, what we prioritize, what we name, and what we call out in each other. But something happens to us when we are deeply seen, deeply known, named and accepted.

  As I think and reflect on Jesus's encounters with his disciples, I wonder if we might shift the WWJD question from - What Would Jesus Do to - What Would Jesus See?
